1. Acceptance of these Terms
By downloading, accessing, purchasing through, or using Solstice (the “App”) or the Solstice website (together, the “Services”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
Your use of the App may also be subject to Apple’s App Store terms, license rules, payment terms, and device-platform conditions. Where mandatory consumer law gives you rights that cannot be waived, these Terms do not limit those rights.
2. What Solstice provides
Solstice provides tools for understanding and planning around solar position and daylight conditions. Features may include sun direction and elevation, sunrise and sunset, twilight, golden and blue hour, estimated shadow direction and theoretical shadow length, map overlays, saved places, seasonal planning, augmented-reality or compass views, local alerts, widgets, Live Activities, and related planning tools.
Features may vary by device, operating-system version, permissions, location, App version, subscription status, and availability of Apple or other third-party services.
3. Subscriptions and purchases
Some Solstice features may require a paid auto-renewing subscription. Available plans, prices, billing periods, trials, introductory offers, and included features are shown in the App before purchase and may vary by storefront or region.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Solstice uses Superwall to present and manage paywall experiences and RevenueCat to validate subscription status and manage paid-feature entitlements. Apple remains the payment processor for App Store purchases.
- Your Apple account is charged according to the terms shown by Apple when you confirm the purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel them through your Apple subscription settings before the renewal takes effect.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account settings. Deleting the App does not by itself cancel an active subscription.
- If a trial or promotional period is offered, the specific eligibility, duration, price after the offer, and renewal terms shown at purchase apply.
- Refunds, billing disputes, taxes, and payment-method issues are handled under Apple’s applicable App Store rules and local law.
- The App may provide a “Restore Purchases” function to resynchronize eligible purchases and entitlements.
If the App, Apple, RevenueCat, or another service temporarily reports inconsistent entitlement information, reasonable steps may be taken to reconcile the subscription state using the underlying App Store transaction record.
4. Acceptable use
You may use the Services for personal or other lawful purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may not misuse the Services, interfere with their operation, attempt unauthorized access, circumvent subscription controls, reverse engineer the Services except where applicable law expressly permits it, use the Services to violate another person’s rights, or use automated means in a way that materially burdens or disrupts the Services.
5. Solar information, maps, shade, and safety
Solstice is a planning tool, not a safety-critical navigation, surveying, meteorology, architectural, engineering, aviation, maritime, emergency, or professional measurement service.
Solar calculations
Solar positions and event times are calculated using astronomical models, device or selected coordinates, timestamps, and timezone information. They are intended to be useful planning estimates, but accuracy can be affected by incorrect location or timezone data, device configuration, atmospheric refraction, elevation, terrain, local horizon obstruction, and other real-world conditions.
Estimated shade
Where Solstice shows “Estimated Shade,” it represents a directional astronomical estimate based on sun direction and, where applicable, a theoretical shadow length for a stated object height. It does not model arbitrary nearby buildings, trees, terrain, temporary structures, or all real-world obstructions. Do not treat it as an architectural shadow study or site survey.
Maps and place information
Maps, search results, Look Around imagery, place labels, road or path data, and related information may be supplied by Apple or other platform services. Such information may be incomplete, outdated, unavailable, or inaccurate. Verify critical route, access, property, safety, and location information independently.
AR and compass use
Augmented-reality and compass views depend on camera alignment, device sensors, magnetic conditions, calibration, and hardware capabilities. Use situational awareness while looking through the device. Do not walk, drive, climb, enter hazardous areas, stare at the sun, or otherwise place yourself or others at risk while using the App.
Weather and real-world visibility
Knowing the geometric position of the sun does not guarantee visible sunlight. Clouds, haze, terrain, buildings, vegetation, weather, smoke, and other obstructions may alter actual lighting conditions.
6. Intellectual property
The Services, including Solstice branding, interface design, original software, text, graphics, and other materials, are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited right to use the Services under these Terms, no ownership rights are transferred to you.
Third-party software, map content, platform materials, trademarks, and services remain the property of their respective owners and may be subject to separate license terms.
7. Service availability and disclaimers
The Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. We do not promise that every feature will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device or future operating-system version.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, all warranties not expressly required by law are disclaimed, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or statutory guarantee that cannot legally be excluded.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Solstice and its developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, loss of profits or opportunity, loss of data, or losses arising from reliance on solar, shade, map, AR, compass, or planning information.
These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law and do not exclude liability that cannot legally be limited, including any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
9. Changes, suspension, and termination
The Services may evolve over time. Features may be added, modified, deprecated, or removed, and these Terms may be updated when reasonably necessary. The effective date above will change when revised Terms are published. If a material change requires additional notice or consent under applicable law, that notice or consent will be provided.
Your right to use the Services may be suspended or terminated if you materially violate these Terms, misuse the Services, or if continued provision becomes unlawful or technically infeasible. Subscription cancellation and any refund rights remain subject to Apple’s rules and applicable law.
